Witching Hour: Newcastle After Dark
Witching Hour is a zine all about night time worlds, centering the voices of those who work or exist after dark. Now in its 3rd issue, funds from the sale of the zine are put aside to fund live exhibitions and future issues.
Following our live pop up exhibition of 20 artists in Newcastle in December 2025, we're now seeking submissions for a special issue of Witching Hour, focused on Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. We're looking for memories, photos, stories, writing, poetry, drawings, paintings, of night life, night shift, clubs, pubs, spooky stories, folklore and mythology; anything which paints a picture of Newcastle after dark, from any era. You don't have to be a professional or consider yourself a practising artist to apply. Lived experience is more important than followers or an artist statement. I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers Legends, The Mayfair, Egypt Cottage, The Cooperage etc.
All 2D art forms welcome. Publication will likely to A4 portrait.
